Scott A. Sherley, REALTOR, Broker in Charge
Scott has been a licensed Realtor in Hawaii since 1985. He was a Realtor Associate with
Max Sherley & Associates, Inc., from 1985 through 1988. He was a Realtor/Owner with
Max Sherley & Associates Ltd from 1988 through 2002, and with ERA Maui Real Estate,
nka ERA Pacific Properties, from 2002 to date, and serves as the Broker in Charge of
the Hilo Office. Scott graduated from the Doris Todd Christian Academy in Paia in 1983.
Scott also has trained as a real estate professional with the State of Hawaii Instructor
Development Workshops, put on each year by the Hawaii Real Estate Commission.
Scott was the President of the Hawaii Association of Realtors for 2004, and is currently a
National Director and a member of the National Association of Realtors Committee on
behalf of the Hawaii Association of Realtors. Scott also was president of the Maui Board
of Realtors in 1999, and the recipient of both the Realtor Associate and Realtor of the
Year awards from the Maui Board of Realtors in 1986 and 1991, respectively. Scott has
been involved in Continuing Education (CE) from the time CE became mandatory for
Hawaii Realtors. As such, he has taught numerous CE Courses during the past six (6)
years for his own school, Max Sherley Real Estate Center, and, more recently, ERA
School of Real Estate, as well as for the Realtors Association of Maui. Scott has also
created CE courses on the Americans with Disabilities Act and Property Management.
Scott is currently a member of the Real Estate Educators Association (REEA) and a
member of the Community Associations Institute (CAI). Scott is also a charter member of
the Maui Branch of the National Association of Residential Property Managers (NARPM),
The National Association of Realtors (NAR), Hawaii Association of Realtors (HAR),
Realtors Association of Maui (RAM), and the Hawaii Island Board of Realtors (HIBR) and
a Member of the American Real Estate Society (ARES)
In his 24+ years in real estate, Scott has handled nearly every aspect of real estate,
including purchases and sales, property management, and community association
management (condominiums and planned community associations). Scott has testified in
court in real estate matters as a witness. Scott has also consulted as an expert to a
number of attorneys and other professionals in a number of real estate cases. And
currently serves on the Real Estate Commission Ad hoc Committee on Condominium
Review and Education
On a personal level, Scott currently is the Maui Liaison to the Honolulu Shriners Children’
s Hospital, serves as the President of the Board of Directors of the Association of Owners
of Apartments of Maalaea Mermaid, a Maui condominium project, and serves on the
Board of Directors of the Maalaea Community Association. Scott also Vice President
Emeritus of the Board of Directors of Mana’o Radio, Maui’s first non-profit radio station,
and can be heard on Mana’o Radio every Sunday from 10 AM to 2 PM with his “Stardust
Memories” program, at KEAO-LP 91.5 FM.
